Hi, having read on the internet that the staff at Hotel Amphone were unfriendly, I would like to put the record straight and say that despite the language difficulties (why do English people always expect everyone to speak English??!!) the staff were courteous and helpful. The hotel was basic but the rooms had everything you needed and the location was perfect to walking into the city centre. Brno is a lovely city with beautiful architecture and the cost of eating out is amazingly cheap. We had a lovely time.

one remark-if possible the receptionists must speak better English,not only Czech language.

V recepci hotelu o nasi rezervaci vubec nevedeli! Meli jsme stesti,ze byl hotel poloprazdny. Jinak je docela "vybydleny"potreboval by udrzbu.

Naše odpověď: The manager of the hotel Amphone promised to paint up all rooms through spring 2007. Changing of the furniture is in the pipeline with the hotel owner.

The hotel was generally fine and what I expected for the price. However the staff were not as helpful as they could be - they couldnt tell us how to get to the airport and seemed frustrated with us asking them questions.
Naše odpověď: We informed the hotel manager about mentioned problems with hotel staff. The chief desk clerk will appeal the staff to be politer and more helpful in the communication.

I have to state that the Hotel Amphone in Brno is not worthy of the tourist classification of three stars, it shoul have only two.
